Empowering Mothers Through Training and Workshops: Project Payatas’ Commitment to Skill Development
At Project Payatas, we believe in equipping our community members with skills that can create long-term, sustainable livelihoods. Beyond providing economic opportunities, we ensure that the mothers in our Bible study outreach have access to hands-on training and workshops designed to develop their craftsmanship and confidence. Over the past year, we have conducted several skill-building sessions, each designed to enhance creativity, technical expertise, and entrepreneurship.
Basic Crochet Workshop (January 2024)
To kick off the year, we organized a three-week Basic Crochet Workshop for the mothers of Project Payatas PH. Led by the talented Chelle Villa, this training provided our participants with fundamental crochet techniques, enabling them to craft intricate handmade pieces.
Chelle’s expertise and passion for the craft inspired our mothers, giving them an avenue for creative expression and potential income generation.
Salupi Making Workshop at Citadines Bay City Manila (May 12, 2024)
In celebration of Mother’s Day, we were invited to conduct a fun and interactive training session on crafting our signature coin purse, the Salupi. This event, held at Citadines Bay City Manila, was a proud moment for our community as our very own moms took the lead, showcasing their skills in rag-making using upcycled materials.
Attendees had the unique opportunity to witness firsthand the dedication and craftsmanship behind each product, reinforcing the importance of sustainability and handmade artistry.
Salupi Making Workshop at Concentrix, Tera Towers (September 21, 2024)
The momentum of our training programs continued with another Salupi Making Workshop, this time at Concentrix, Tera Towers.
Through our collaboration with Cluster Kay, we engaged corporate professionals in a meaningful, skill-sharing session. Our mothers once again demonstrated their expertise in upcycling and rag-making, highlighting the social and environmental impact of their work.
These types of corporate partnerships not only provide learning experiences but also open doors for potential business collaborations.
Machine Sewing Training at Our Production House (February 2025)
As we move forward, we are excited to have introduced Machine Sewing Training at our newly opened Production House. With the addition of two brand-new high-speed machines, our mothers are now equipped with advanced sewing techniques that will enhance production efficiency and product quality.
This milestone marks a new phase of growth for Project Payatas, expanding our capacity to create high-quality, upcycled products while further empowering our artisans with technical expertise.
Looking Ahead
These training programs reflect our ongoing commitment to uplifting communities through skill-building and sustainable livelihood opportunities. As we continue to grow, we look forward to introducing more workshops, strengthening partnerships, and empowering more individuals with valuable knowledge and practical skills.
By investing in training, we are not only fostering creativity and sustainability but also ensuring that our mothers gain the confidence and independence needed to thrive. If you’d like to support our mission, whether by sponsoring a workshop, volunteering your expertise, or purchasing our handmade products, we’d love to collaborate with you.
Together, we can create meaningful change—one skill, one workshop, and one empowered mother at a time.
